Talk about the family getting together on Memorial Day weekend - at River Downs a team of owners, breeders, trainer, jockey, sire and dam all came together to capture the $50,000 Green Carpet Stakes. The winner Master Rocket was bred and owned by Fred "Butch" Nemann and his wife Kris. Kris is also... the trainer of the horse and her son, Nathan Soloman was the jockey. The Nemann's own the sire and the dam of Master Rocket and his full brother Acts Like A King, who was a multiple stakes winner.
"I knew if he was 50% of his brother we could win this race," said Soloman after stalking the heavily favored Trophy Boy for the upset victory. "Acts Like A King won his first race in a stakes and now his little brother did too!"
Master Rocket returned $35.20, $8.20 and $5.00 to his backers after covering the grassy 1 1/16 miles in 1:48 1/5. Pacesetter Trophy Boy paid $2.40 and $2.80, while Ten Matinins had a show payoff of $2.80.
