$100,000 COCA-COLA BASSINET STAKES TO ALL ABOUT ANNA

After stalking the pacesetters for half of the race, jockey Corey Lanarie let All About Anna loose and she ran away from her rivals by six lengths. "She broke well and I just let her settle, I didn't want to be part of speed duel," said the 34-year-old Lanerie. "I just took hold of her to keep her out of trouble and swept by the top two as we headed into the stretch." Lanerie, who is based in Kentucky has ridden in three stakes races at River Downs and has won all three. In addition to Saturday's Bassinet, he captured the 2005 Cradle Stakes aboard Laity, the 2006 Cradle Stakes with Passport. "I ought to race here more often," laughed Lanerie.

The $100,000 Coca-Cola Bassinet is the richest 2-year-old race for fillies in Ohio. Favored All About Anna traveled the six furlongs in 1:12.40. Letter of the Law, who set the entire early pace held on by a nose over Bassinet Prep winner Jody Slew.

All About Anna paid $5.40, $3.60, and $2.60. Letter of the Law returned $6.00 and $4.20 and Jody Slew had a show payoff of $2.60.

On Sunday River Downs will hold its annual Justin Vitek/Gary Birzer Benefit during live racing. The silent auction was given a huge shot in the arm when Inside Media donated a guitar signed by The Jonas Brothers, arguably the hottest group on the national music scene. "This should be the sales topper if we can get the word out," said track publicist John Engelhardt. "I'm willing to take reserve bids by phone so people outside the Cincinnati area can bid on this rare item. Just give me a call at 513-354-8243. To this generation - these guys are the Beatles!" The silent auction, which will end at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, will feature racing memorabilia, equine art and racing related collectibles.

Post time on Sunday for live racing is 2:00 p.m. General parking and admission is free, as well as pony rides in the paddock.
